What I mean by DISCO, and why you might be into it, too

Ever look at a disco ball and NOT smile? I definitely NEED to!

Actually, I can’t help but smile when I see disco tiles covering ANYTHING. Who doesn’t want life to sparkle more? 

Everyone everywhere talks about what’s “aesthetic” today. Neutrals, Mob Wife, Demure, Brat, Y2K, Boho…on and on. But when we say “disco” we aren’t talking about a direct style or aesthetic like bellbottoms or Saturday Night Fever. We’re talking about an attitude, a vibe, a language that’s about moving, dancing, flirting, partying no matter what the day brings. It’s an elevated mindset and most important: it's energy!

I didn’t grow up in mainstream disco’s heyday and I don’t style my outfits to even reference it aesthetically, BUT there are designers of that era who inspire me to make style choices that elevate my confidence. Confidence is a big word for me and for Ouf! As a woman, we change a lot, grow all the time, and face different challenges along the way. Some days as a single mom and business owner, it can be really overwhelming. I’ll be sitting on the edge of the bed thinking “how am I going to pull it together and take on the day?” Then, I’ll find a shimmer of an idea to create some Disco Energy.

Maybe it’s 70s YSL, Paco Rabanne, or Thierry Mugler,where I find a spark of inspiration, but having a vibe I can think about helps me motivate and find joy in living life. Sometimes it’s even more of a “rock” vibe like 80s Moschino (my fav!) but I still identify it with the bigger idea of Disco Energy, and that’s what we strive to tap into with Ouf!

Just like a disco ball, when you see it, you smile and get a little lit up inside. The wink of a diamond on your hand, or the glow of gold near your face when you look in the mirror is Disco Energy. It can be a little reminder for you to light up every room you enter, and tap into your inner glow on tough days, big days, or any day at all.

Disco is the feeling you get dancing with the people you love–the one where you are just shining from the inside out as your most fabulous self. It’s dressing as we want. It’s styling as we want. It's you being the true YOU and shining bright.
